Cloudy with intermittent rain
Took Duncan and mum to see his teacher on an appointment. Then took Uncle and wife to go for gynaecology appointment at Thomson Medical Centre, just opposite Duncan's school aat Balestier Hill Secondary School. Bought famed Chicken Rice at Wee Nam Kee, opposite Novena Square. Stayed at home all afternoon. Late evening was pouring like h*ll, took away food from Whampoa market, opposite apartment. Feeling really hungry. My appetite has improved dramatically since the past 2 weeks. Have been able to eat a lot, I noticed that my food intake has increased significantly, a sign for the better perhaps?
Wanted to try out my Canon EOS450D in downtown Singapore, especially at night when the lights are all turned on. I knew there was an McLaren F1 car on display at Paragon Shopping Centre, so that was my first stop. The display was part of some promotion project to promote F1 in Singapore in light of the upcoming Singapore F1 GP, the first ever night race to be staged in Singapore. What a race it would be, I can't wait to find out. Cheapest ticket as at $108, and almost 95% of tickets were already sold. So chances of me getting my hands on one were all but gone.
Duncan was there shooting for me, and I was busy shooting the car on display. Being able to go so close to the real thing, was euphoric for me. Even though I don't support McLaren and Lewis hamilton, but I am still a huge fan of Formula 1 racing. Been watching races on tele since 2000. My support goes wherever Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari goes. After taking pictures of it for almost 30 mins, one friendly guy from the McLaren merchandise booth gave me 4 postcards or bookmarks, whatever you call 'em, i was so surprised and happy at the same time, because I knew they weren't cheap. Perhaps my perseverance paid off. The guy must have thought I was a die-hard fan, so he gave me those things. They were 4 bookmarks bearing the picture and information of McLaren's four main men, namely Lewis Hamilton, Heikki Kovalainen, Pedro de la Rosa and Gary Paffett.
Then we took bus 124 to City Hall, alighted and took the underpass all the way to The Esplanade, Theaters on the Bay, the structure that looks like a durian and all. It was really exciting, because I was snapping all the way and the scene of Singapore's night life is simply wonderful to see. Got a few pictures of the Merlion, The Esplanade and of course, Singapore's oldest hotel, The Fullerton Hotel. Then, after all that cam-whoring, we took a short walk to Marina Centre, and took bus 56 to Novena, where we switched to 139 back to Balestier Road. So convenient. Anyone, Malaysia? Took away some supper on way home, and that was my day. My baby Canon didn't disappoint one bit!
